Martin Berkovitz has lived in New Mexico since 1995.

He works in the mediums of oil, watercolor, gouache and brush drawing. He has also created editions of etchings and lithographs. For the last several years he has been completing a vast cycle of large scale oil paintings and related paper works. His work has been exhibited in the United States, Canada, and Europe. Martin’s paintings and drawings are represented in many private collections as well as the National Gallery of Canada and the Stoclet Palace in Brussels, Belgium.

Martin's words...

Since the early nineteen seventies, I have been building several categories of pictures. Very much like a farmer, I've rotated these categories which has allowed me to create a very diverse body of work. These many different approaches have multiplied, enriched and fertilized the possibilities inherent in each category. In many cases these have overlapped and created fusions.

Each category in its turn may contain several series of pictures. What follows are notes pertaining to the categories. I have given them each an umbrella designation although the series they contain may have different titles.
